Home-Start Warrington
Home-Start Warrington is a part of the UK’s leading family support charity. Through a network of trained parent volunteers Home-Start Warrington supports parents who are struggling to cope. Our aim is increase the number of volunteers to 50, this will allow us to deliver well over 6000 voluntary hours per year. Our families need support for many reasons including post-natal depression, the illness of a parent or child, disability, bereavement or social isolation. Parents supporting other parents: it’s a simple idea that really works. Home-Start Warrington trains parent volunteers who then befriend and support families with at least one child under five. They help to give children the best possible start in life by supporting the whole family. They work to prevent difficult times from creating permanent problems.

Alder Hey Imagine Appeal
Alder Hey is Europe’s busiest children’s hospital, seeing around a quarter of a million children every year. The Imagine Appeal was launched in 2005 to support the hospital’s vital pioneering work and improve the quality of life for children whilst they are in hospital. Imagine aims to improve the environment, provide facilities for patients and their families, fund the very latest medical equipment and support research in the hope that the things our children suffer from today, will be eradicated in the future. None of this would be possible without your help and generosity and we hope you will consider supporting Alder Hey Imagine Appeal when you run in the New Balance English Half Marathon and be part of making a difference to the lives of sick children.

Warrington Grassroots – The Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2010/11
Mayor of Warrington John Joyce has announced his main charitable cause will be Warrington Grassroots for 2010/11 which is managed by Warrington Council for Voluntary Service.
Warrington Grassroots provides small grants to community groups of up to £5000 throughout the Borough and as already issued over £150,000 since its launch in September 2008. Mayor John Joyce has selected Warrington Grassroots because he wants to spread the word during his Mayoral year that this money is available now to those who need it, as well as taking advantage of the match-funding scheme of Grassroots currently available which means that every pound received to The Mayor’s Charity Appeal will be doubled by receiving a pound from Central Government.
The current small grant scheme ends in March 2011 and money raised from The Mayor’s Charity Appeal will then be used to give grants to the community thereafter.
“Warrington is full of small groups and individuals who work tirelessly to tackle local problems and Warrington Grassroots supports their efforts” says Nigel Bacon, Chief Executive of Warrington Council for Voluntary Service who manages Warrington Grassroots. “Whether it’s helping local clubs get hold of new kit, coaching new volunteers or simply giving the village hall a fresh lick of paint, Warrington Grassroots aims to make a real and immediate difference to the work and support activities that lie at the heart of the community.”
So, why not get on board and run this year’s English Half Marathon for The Mayor’s Charity Appeal and make your money go further!
With every pound you raise, we can receive match-funding from the Government, so a £10.00 donation can be worth £25.60 to the Endowment Challenge, if Gift Aid is claimed too!
If interested in running on behalf of The Mayor’s Charity Appeal please contact Marissa either via email on grassroots@warringtoncvs.org.uk or by calling 07977 170422.

openingdoors
openingdoors (north west) Ltd is a Warrington-based registered Charity that aims to assist vulnerable and homeless people in the North West to improve their quality of life and support them with their independent living. Until 2005 openingdoors was called Warrington Action for Homeless and we have been supporting people in need of assistance and somewhere to stay since we were established in 1982.
Last year staff and volunteers at our emergency Night Shelter, located in Warrington, provided a bed and support for over 600 service users, who were in need of assistance. We also supported vulnerable people on more than 2,700 occasions by providing food and drink and blankets or a sleeping bag to keep them warm.
By choosing to run the People’s Challenge for openingdoors you will be raising vital funds to allow us to continue to provide homeless people in the town with the sort of things that most of us take for granted; a hot meal and a safe, warm bed.

The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace
The Foundation is now in its sixteenth year and over that time has worked tirelessly to develop learning programmes which will change the way young people deal with and react to cultural differences and the ever growing problems of violence within and between communities. The Foundation’s adult programme ‘Survivors for Peace’ is a unique programme working with survivors of politically-motivated violence who live in Britain. It gives victims and their families the opportunity to turn their negative experience into a positive contribution to peace in their own lives and in their communities. Victims are motivated by a new sense of purpose and sharing their experiences not only has a positive effect upon themselves, but it also helps others gain a real appreciation of the human cost of terrorist campaigns.
The Peace Centre is a place that Warrington can be proud of. Each year the Foundation has the responsibility of raising over £600,000 and relies on the generosity of companies and individuals to help raise the money to continue its work.

The Relationships Centre
We are the leading independent relationships agency working in partnership with a range of independent and specialist providers to offer innovative solutions that not only treats the effects but also targets the causes of abuse and relationship problems. We deliver training to professionals, voluntary groups, schools, colleges and Universities and actively campaign about the issues affecting our client group. We work in collaboration with national organisations to influence and inform policy and public opinion on issues such as Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence, Young Runaways and Care leavers.
Every year in the UK over 100,000 young people runaway from home or care, a night on the streets can lead to being involved in crime, forced into prostitution, abused or even killed. We want to make sure that every young person in Warrington who runs away is kept safe and you can help. During 2010-11 we will be hosting a range of fundraising events and every pound raised will go towards the Life Skills Academy Appeal which will protect our children and support our community in a unique way. The Life skills Academy will offer a safe place providing help and support to deal with the reasons why they ran away.
We need volunteers, donors and sponsors. Please visit our News and Events page for more information www.healthyrelationships.org.uk. If you require any further information then please contact: Lucy Hindmarch, The Relationships Centre by telephone on 01925 246910 or by email at lucy@healthyrelationships.org.uk.
